Many Ways to Upload

If you want, you can upload files via email! You can either upload load them by attaching them or by specifying a URL to upload from. Email uploads offer the same features as web uploads, including the account. A key benefit to uploading via email is that you don't have to wait for the files to upload to the server. On web uploads, if you leave the page, your upload will fail. With email uploads, all you have to do is send either the attachments or URL and the site will email you back when it completes.

To Upload Via Email Attachment

All you need to do is attach as many files as you wish (and that your mail program allows you to send) and email it to upload@hostmyfile.org. The site will scan the email for attachments, upload them, and email you back the results, including: status, filename, filetype, filesize, download link, view link, the link to the actual file, bb code for linking to the file, and html code for linking to the file.

To Authenticate to Your Account for the Attachment Upload

Uploads require no authentication if you send the email from an address which hasn't been used for an account on this site; however, if you send it from an email address that has been registered, you can use either one of these authentication options:

OPTION ONE -- In To Email: Place your password in the "To" address. Change it from upload@hostmyfile.org to upload+YOURPASSHERE@hostmyfile.org. So, if your password is gg89d, send your upload email to upload+gg89d@hostmyfile.org.

OPTION TWO -- In Subject: Simply send your upload email to upload@hostmyfile.org and with the Subject as your password. So, if your password is gg89d, the subject of your email should be ONLY: gg89d

By authenticating to your account, these files will be immediately placed in your account's file manager! If you do not wish to authenticate, you can send your upload from an unregistered email.

To Register for an Account via Attachment Upload

As mentioned, the email system is fully-featured. If you send an upload from an unregistered email, you can register the address in that very email! All you need to do is use one of the two above options for authentication and your email will be registered with that password. In the reply the site sends you, it will give you a summary of your new account.

To Upload Via Email URL

All you have to do is address the email to upload@hostmyfile.org and paste the URL in the email's subject and send it. The site will scanthe email for the URL, upload the file at the URL, and email you back the results which includes all that are listed in the To Upload Via Email Attachment section.

To Authenticate to Your Account for the Email URL Upload

You can authenticate to your account using only OPTION ONE from the To Authenticate to Your Account for the Attachment Upload section above.

To Register for an Account via Email URL Upload

You can register an account during your Email URL Upload following the directions in the To Register for an Account view Attachment Upload section above. You must use OPTION ONE.
